How the Premier League works
Twenty clubs, thirty-eight rounds, August to May. Everyone plays everyone, home and away, and there are no playoffs and no splits: the table after round 38 is the final word. Clubs level on points are separated by goal difference, then goals scored. The bottom three drop into the Championship, and three come up to replace them.
The rhythm is built around Saturday: a lunchtime opener, a stack of 15:00 kickoffs that are famously never shown live on UK television, and a teatime headliner, with Sunday afternoons and Friday and Monday nights wrapped around it. There is no real winter break; the packed festive round on Boxing Day is the most loved fixture list of the season.
The top four or five places go to the Champions League, with Europa League and Conference League spots behind; the fifth arrives when England's European coefficient earns it. This hub keeps every round counted down in UK time, and every club and meeting has its own page in your timezone.
